Barry Pousman is formerly the Executive Producer at Rocketboom, an award winning video blog focused on Internet news and culture. Barry earned his B.A. in visual media with a concentration in documentary filmmaking from Emerson College in Boston. After college, he went on to serve with the U.S. Peace Corps in Senegal where he founded an organization devoted to video and development in West Africa. Barry was awarded two grants from the U.S. Embassy and one grant from Senegal’s Gender and Development program for the completion of his documentary films while he was there. Since living in New York, he has worked at Rocketboom as director, producer and eventually executive producer where he developed and consulted on two new web series for PBS.org, created original content for Vitamin Water at the Cannes Film Festival and directed sponsored content for Intel. Since leaving Rocketboom, he has become a regular lecturer at General Assembly and has been invited to speak at colleges and advertising agencies across the country on the nature of viral videos online. Barry is also working as a freelance producer and consultant for clients including Crowd Centric and HOLSTEE.
